T82.510A

Posted By Total Vascular Care, Tuesday, April 26, 2016

Hello ASDIN Community,

Can someone provide an example of when they would use T82.510A I'm having trouble understanding what would classify as a mechanical breakdown of AVF.

Thank you in advance.

Thanks so much for the post Total Vascular Care! This post was cross-posted to the Physician Blog and we did receive a response. See comment at: http://www.asdin.org/blogpost/1182603/245443/T82-510A#comment130380
My inquiries have indicated that this code is not typically used in dialysis access endovascular procedures.

I don't think that this code makes much sense as all other codes cover the problems related to the access. I usually use this code if the only problem with the AV fistula is the presence of accessory veins that needs to be obliterated for maturation failure. I do not use this code if the problem is a hematoma or hemorrhage related to the accessory vein.
