ASDIN Certification and Accreditation Grievance Procedure

When a certification or accreditation application is reviewed and rejected for approval, a second review of the application by the appropriate workgroup will be completed.  Following the second review and rejection an applicant may request a formal review of the application through the following grievance procedure.  The only purpose of this grievance procedure is to seek the reversal of an adverse decision by the workgroup toward the applicant.

1.     A formal written request for further review should be requested by the certification or accreditation applicant within 30 days of second rejection.  At such time as a formal written request for further review/grievance is filed by a certification or accreditation applicant, the full ASDIN Certification and Accreditation Committee will review the application and the actions of the applicable workgroup.  At that time the grievance may be resolved by the Committee, or if the action of the Committee does not satisfy the applicant, the grievance may move forward to step two of the procedure.  In order to move forward with the grievance, the applicant must make a request in writing within 30 days of the decision of the Certification and Accreditation Committee.

2.     Upon receipt of a written request for a continuation of the grievance, the grievance will be referred to the ASDIN Executive Committee.  At such time the Certification and Accreditation Committee shall submit to the Executive Committee their findings as to the facts of the issue.  The findings shall be reviewed by the Executive Committee.  The individual applicant shall be afforded the opportunity to address the Executive Committee at the time the report of the Certification and Accreditation Committee is being reviewed.  At that time the grievance may be resolved by the Executive Committee, or if the action of the Executive Committee does not satisfy the applicant, the grievance may move forward to step three of the procedure.  In order to move forward with the grievance, the applicant must make a request in writing within 30 days of the decision of the Executive Committee.

3.     Upon receipt of a written request for a continuation of the grievance, the grievance will be referred to the ASDIN Council.  At such time, the Certification and Accreditation Committee and the Executive Committee shall submit to the Council their findings as to the facts of the issue. The findings shall be reviewed by the Council.  The individual applicant shall be afforded the opportunity to address the Council at the time the report of the Certification and Accreditation Committee and Executive Committee is being reviewed.  The Council will make a decision in regard to the grievance.  The decision of the Council will be deemed final.
