Daniel V. Patel, MD

I entered the field of Nephrology specifically with an interest in pursuing Interventional Nephrology.  As a 3rd year medical student, and later as an Internal Medicine resident, I spent time with the Interventional Nephrology division while at the University of Miami. I later pursued a fellowship and interventional training with the Emory Renal Division.  I then returned home to Daytona Beach to start the Volusia-Flagler Vascular Center in 2010.  I have been in practice as a full-time Interventionalist, with nearly 10,000 dialysis access patient encounters over my career.

As an ASDIN member since 2010, I have served on the Clinical Practice Committee, I have reviewed various manuscripts for the Core Curriculum, and I have judged abstracts for the Annual Meeting.  I am a current member of the Hemodialysis Access Certification Committee.  I am active in publishing, teaching, and training in dialysis access.

My interest is in collaborating with industry, academia, and private practice to continue advancing patient care.  I also hope reinforce the value of outpatient centers in the current regulatory environment.  At the same time, I would like to help foster education and interest in procedures among trainees, to help attract the next generation to the field.
