Meeting Safety & Responsibility Policy [Approved by Council 9/28/18]

The American Society of Diagnostic and Interventional Nephrology (ASDIN) is committed to providing a safe, productive, and welcoming environment for all meeting participants. All participants are expected to abide by this Meeting Safety & Responsibility Policy. This Policy applies to all ASDIN meeting-related events, including those sponsored by other organizations but held in conjunction with ASDIN events, in public or private facilities.

Social Media Policy

• ASDIN welcomes live-tweeting and sharing of ASDIN Annual Scientific Meeting content (such as slides, posters, and exhibitor information) on social media as a way to share information throughout social networks. If a faculty member does not wish to have his/her research shared via Twitter, Facebook, or other social networks, the faculty member should make an announcement before and during the presentation.

• ASDIN strongly encourages compliance with faculty requests regarding photography, audio/video recording, livestreaming, and social media sharing but cannot guarantee adherence.

• ASDIN Abstracts should not be shared on social media unless express, written consent is obtained from author/presenter prior to sharing.

Responsible Drinking

At the ASDIN Scientific Meeting, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages are served. ASDIN expects participants to drink responsibly. ASDIN and Meeting host event staff have the right to deny service to participants for any reason, and may require a participant to leave an event.

Personal Safety and Security

ASDIN works to provide a safe and secure environment at its Annual Scientific Meeting by working with venue staff to make sure meeting participants are safe. We ask that all attendees report any questionable or concerning activity to ASDIN staff so that they may take immediate action.

Anti-Harassment Policy

It is the policy of ASDIN that all participants in Society activities will enjoy an environment free from all forms of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation. As a professional society, ASDIN is committed to providing an atmosphere that encourages the free expression and exchange of scientific ideas. ASDIN is dedicated to the philosophy of equality of opportunity and treatment for all members.  This policy applies to all attendees at Society activities.  Harassment, intimidation, or discrimination, of any nature, is a form of misconduct that undermines the integrity of Society meetings. Violators of this policy will be subject to discipline.  The following is offered as an illustrative list of unacceptable behavior, but is not limited to these actions:

All reports of harassment should be made to ASDIN staff or leadership as soon as possible.  ASDIN Leadership will investigate claims and provide a final determination of findings to all parties.

Disciplinary action may be taken against individuals engaging in harassment as well as those making allegations of harassment in bad faith.  ASDIN reserves the right to take any action deemed necessary and appropriate including a verbal warning or ejection from the meeting without refund of registration fees.  Repeat offenders may be subject to further disciplinary action such as being banned from participating in future ASDIN meetings or loss of membership.
