Advice on new C-arm purchase

Posted By Amy C. Dwyer, Tuesday, January 23, 2018

Esteemed colleagues,

My 10-year old Phillips BV Pulsera is wearing out and I am shopping for a new machine. I am looking at the Phillips Veradius Unity and the GE OEC Elite CFD (not the 9900 version). Does anyone have experience with either machine?

Thanks!

We’ve had the OEC for >10 years. I can’t remember the last time we had problems with it.

Our oldest GE OEC 9900 is 11 years old and in perfect condition, they are the workhorses of the C-arm world. The hospital that I came from has one of the old original OEC's that should probably be in a museum but it still works so they're using it :)
We have also paid for a service contract for all of our units (we have three total) since we bought them and have regular PM's on them by GE engineers. Expensive but cheaper than a new unit by far.
We have one that has the Tech-view monitor on it and it's really helpful for our vascular cases, everyone gets to see what's going on. Nurses stuck back in a corner seldom if ever get to see what's happening, at least in our room set-ups.

Hope this helps!

Agree with above. But check out Siemens flat panel demos. Fantastic units with excellent table side controls. Great pricing.
