I am privileged to be a part of ASDIN, the leading organization in the field of dialysis access, and to support its mission of promoting excellence in dialysis access care. My involvement in the various committees over the years has given me a deeper understanding of the issues faced by our patients and has given me the tools and the support I need to help make positive change.

Why do you value FASDIN?
Having the FASDIN designation means more to me than any other title that I have because it signifies the efforts of ASDIN to improve dialysis access care for all of our patients suffering with kidney disease. The fellow status reminds me of the effort and collaboration of so many to further the study and innovation of dialysis access. It is truly an honor to share this with so many of my past, current and future colleagues!
How have you benefitted from ASDIN?
The ASDIN has provided us the platform to come together as a professional organization to further dialysis access care. We get to share research, practical insight and intellectual curiosity across a broad spectrum of clinicians, researchers and experts around the world.

First International FASDIN Applicant
FASDIN Class of 2016
Nephrologist, Lilavati Hospital, Mumbai
Why do you value FASDIN?
FASDIN has meant a lot in my career. It has given more authentic recognition to me among my nephrology and other doctor colleagues as an Interventional Nephrologist. The hospital authority also recognized this as a standard to be considered for independent procedures in Cath labs and ORs, to be performed by a nephrologist. It has also given recognition at national level like Indian Society of Nephrology, as invited speaker for 3 times during annual conferences and also a referee for Journal of Indian Society of Nephrology and for Seminars in Dialysis.
How have you benefitted from ASDIN?
ASDIN converted me from an unorganized interventional nephrologist to an organized interventional nephrologist. It taught me a lot of newer techniques and approaches to difficult problems and refined my pre-existing knowledge in IN. ASDIN made me known among US nephrologists and I have now a large number of personal friends in ASDIN. Regular attendance, and active participation during annual conferences by way of poster, video and podium (when selected) presentation makes you feel proud and happy that the work from a third world country is also recognized if it is good quality. And ASDIN keeps on giving you that encouragement and the presentations at ASDIN are considered as proof of good standard work, among Indian audience.

Why do you value FASDIN?
FASDIN is a designation that I am truly the most proud of because it signifies the continuous work and effort put into quality dialysis access care. It is not a one time accomplishment but rather an ongoing dialogue within the access community to provide the best outcomes for our patients to ultimately optimize their care and their quality of life.
How have you benefitted from ASDIN?
The ASDIN brings together multiple disciplines and perspectives for the ultimate goal of providing the best dialysis access care. I've learned tremendously from my colleagues and patients and have truly adjusted my lens and practice patterns as well to develop optimal outcomes. Keeping patient care front and center, ASDIN has always been a platform for all involved in dialysis access management to voice their opinions, concerns and successes in a receptive and open environment and to advocate for our patients. I find this incredibly helpful in my practice to improve patient care and to increase awareness of access education within the greater dialysis community.

Why do you value FASDIN?
Becoming a fellow of ASDIN has been the single most important advancement in my career. It is a true recognition of my work as an interventional nephrologist. I feel privileged, honored, and included in the IN community. This has boosted my confidence while also renewing my commitment to patient care, teaching, and scholarly activities.
How have you benefitted from ASDIN?
As a premier organization focused on dialysis access care, ASDIN has brought the experts in the field together - to further knowledge, collaborate, share, and innovate. Personally, ASDIN's HVA certification gives me the credentials to practice interventional nephrology at my institution. Knowledge gained in ASDIN meetings has changed my practice and made me a better advocate for my patients. I am privileged to be a member of the accreditation committee and have gained a broader perspective on the hurdles faced in advancing our mission.
