Wanted to share today's tweetorial from the ASDIN Social Media Committee. This is our third tweetorial. Some of you may not be on twitter so wanted to share in this space.
The increase in diameter and flow in a fistula is not related to the increase of pressure in the vein. It is related mainly to the flow. When we perform a vein graft in arterial surgery, for example in a femoro-popliteal location, there is no increase in the diameter but only an increase in the thickness of the vein wall.. The drawing gives the answer: the lenght of the anastomosis is far too long!
