Learning objectives: By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to: Access Planning · Outline principles of long-term vascular access planning and vein preservation · Identify appropriate timing and modality for initiating access workup. Access Evaluation · Accurately name various vascular accesses and understand their anatomical characteristics. · Perform a structured 4–5 point physical exam on AVFs and grafts. · Recognize normal vs abnormal findings on exam and ultrasound. Access Monitoring and Dysfunction · Apply knowledge of pathophysiology to recognize signs of inflow/outflow problems and thrombosis. · Interpret clinical presentations using physical and ultrasound-based assessments. · Decide when to refer for imaging, intervention, or conservative monitoring.. Peritoneal Dialysis · Manage common complications in PD, including drainage issues, infections, and mechanical problems · Develop diagnostic and therapeutic approaches to PD troubleshooting.. Procedural Skills · Demonstrate technique and safety measures for ultrasound-guided catheter and biopsy procedures. · Interpret ultrasound parameters relevant to cannulation and access suitability. · Understand considerations for patients with limited or failing access options..
