ASDIN Vascular Access Mentorship Program Award

The mentorship program award aims to guide trainees or medical students seeking guidance for clinical or basic research in the vascular access field.  Ideally, the applicant has an interest in the research area and has completed a research proposal. All awardees will be mentored by the mentorship committee, consisting of 4-6 experienced physician-scientists in the field. Awardees will meet with the mentorship committee every 2 months to discuss research strategies, data collection, analysis, and data interpretation.  Awardees will also receive guidance for manuscript preparation, journal selection, as well as manuscript submission.  Trainees interested in vascular access related research and are seeking advice on mentorship-related matters are welcome to apply for this program.

Eligibilities

-       Medical students, medical residents, and fellows

-       Applicants should be commit 1 year to this program and are willing to participate in the program activities

Application Due -  August 15

Program start time - October 1 

Program Design

Awardees will meet with the mentorship committee as a group every 2 months

Program Goals

-       Design innovative, practical, and rigorous research project

-       Select appropriate tools for data acquisition and analysis

-       Communicate research findings to colleagues in the field

-       Submit abstracts to national meetings

-       Receive manuscript writing and editing guidance

-       Submit manuscript to peer-review journals (such as Journal of Vascular Access)

 Stipend for the awardees

-       Travel grant for ASDIN Annual Scientific Meeting ($500)

-       Stipend for manuscript editing by a professional editing service ($800)
