Need new ultrasound - suggestions?

Posted By Venugopal Botla, Wednesday, January 12, 2022

Hello all,

Our center is looking to purchase another ultrasound for dialysis access procedures and flow measurements.  Currently we have a nice GE Logiq and also a really old Sonosite.  Any suggestions on a portable U/S machine that is good quality and relatively affordable?  Any thoughts on the Butterfly?

We have a GE logiq and and old sonosite. We just bought a Sonosite edge II., refurbished from GE. I love it. It’s just like a new one at half the price. With warranty. The old sonosite did well for 14 years.

Not sure if newest Butterfly will give flow measurements (first gen doesn’t). Image quality isn’t nearly as good as a proper machine either.

GE Logiq E is a good portable machine but look at Logic P9 as well. Much better image quality and comes with pacs interface software and probe, so cost is almost same as E - especially if you don’t need portability.
